Hi there my name is Lori O'Brien. I have been teaching in PS 14 for 20 years. Within those 20 years I have taught 17 years in 4th grade, 2 years as a literacy teacher, and currently I am in my 2nd year of teaching kindergarten. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. I cannot wait for you to see all the immense learning that will be happening within our classroom that they bring home to you and your family. Your child will make so many leaps this year in all areas of academics including social and emotional learning. I know kindergarten is hard for some of us, as it is out first time in school being separated from our babies, but I promise you your children are safe and will have the time of their lives.
One thing I ask of my parents and guardians, please always speak to your child. Ask them what they did in school, what did they learn, what was their favorite part, was something hard for them. The more we as adults can talk with our children the more vocabulary we can build for them as we learn more about them and each other.
